The Registrar of the University of Ibadan, Mr. Ganiyu Oke Saliu has acknowledged that the University of Ibadan is home for human capital development, not only for Nigeria but the continent of Africa.

He made this acknowledgement while receiving on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, the South West Zonal Executive Members of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), during a courtesy visit.

Mr. Saliu affirmed that the University of Ibadan at 76 years is the first and the best university in Nigeria.

He said the University does its best to remain at the top and is always willing to collaborate with professional bodies like the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).

Mr Saliu said the University Management appreciates its Registry staff and the Nigerian Institute of Management for resilience towards capacity building and human resource development.

The Registrar commended the Nigerian Institute of Management for being an institute that encourages members from all spheres of life through its professional training.

Mr Saliu said the University of Ibadan was looking forward to having a collaboration that would promote the acquisition of skills and knowledge for both the staff and students of the institution through the resuscitation of the NIM, University of Ibadan Chapter, academic contributions to journals, and other strategic partnerships to make the society better.

The South West Zonal Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Management and leader of the team, Alhaji Musiliu Ebun Atinuke, FNIM, explained that the visit was a tradition of the NIM to appreciate the chief host of the fourth/last quarterly zonal meeting and to seek further collaborations with the University of Ibadan.

He appreciated the hospitality of the university management, substantial support of the Vice-Chancellor, timely intervention, and demonstration of professionalism by the Registrar.

He commended the University management for the peaceful industrial atmosphere, leadership qualities, teamwork, synergy, and exhibition of professionalism by all stakeholders and for associating with the NIM.

He recalled that UI is an important institution that has a long-standing relationship with the NIM saying that two past zonal chairmen came from the University of Ibadan and therefore, pleaded with the management for the resuscitation/revitalisation of the UI Chapter of NIM.

The NIM, South West Zonal Chairman, stated that UI is a pace setter of academic excellence and called for the contribution of members of the academic community to a quarterly journal produced by the Nigerian Institute of Management.

He assured the University of Ibadan of continuous partnership in workable areas in the hope that this contributes to nation-building and has a more practical and progressive impact on the nation's social, economic, and political activities.

The Director of Membership Service, Mr. Abayomi Folarin, FNIM, said there was a collaboration between UI and NIM on a PGD Management programme.

He requested that the programme be reviewed and resuscitated.

He also sought collaboration with UI on the NIM Catch Them Young Programme, a Student Scheme for undergraduates where students in all fields are taught the elements of management from year 2, mentored to become managers and would be inducted as graduate members of the institute after graduation.

Mr Folarin said the NIM was looking forward to signing an agreement with UI through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the resuscitation of the PGD programme, student scheme and academic contribution to journals and other modalities.
