VISIT BY THE OYO STATE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE TO THE UI VICE-CHANCELLOR, PROFESSOR ABEL IDOWU OLAYINKA IN HIS OFFICE ON THURSDAY, 04 April, 2019

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka, FAS, received the new Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu in his office on Thursday, 04 April 2019.
The Vice-Chancellor, who was ably represented at the occasion by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Kayode Adebowale expressed the appreciation of the University to the visitor for his thoughtfulness for the visit. He considered the timely visit as a reflection of the existing cordial relationship between the Security operatives and the University Management.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor underscored the importance of the visit as a veritable tool in promoting community policing that is gaining momentum as a panacea for a secured community.
In his speech, Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu said that the familiarization tour which was delayed by the 2019 general election was to afford him the opportunity to meet and engage all stakeholders within the purview of his operation after assumption of office as the Oyo State Commissioner of Police shortly before the commencement of the 2019 general election in February 2019.
He assured the University Management of a sustained cordial relationship and his willingness to cooperate with the school Management to provide adequate security within and in the neighbouring community. He charged the management to caution the student against any act of violence and any unwarranted confrontation with the officers and men of the Nigerian Police Force who are trained to be professional in their discharge of duties.
Among the team of the visiting CP were the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Funsho Ajao Olarionye; SP Adepetu Ayodeji; SP Adetula James; SP Agboola O. Samuel; SP Fadeyi Olugbenga; Police Public Relation Officer, SP Fadeyi Olugbenga.
In attendance were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Adebola Ekanola; Registrar, Mrs Olubunmi Faluyi; University Librarian, Dr. Helen Komolafe-Opadeji; Chairman, Council Committee on Security, Prof. A.R.A. Alada; Chief Security Officer, Mr. V.G. Fadeyighe; Station Manager, Diamond 101.1 FM Mr. Paul Emohare and the Director, Directorate of Public Communication, Mr. O.M. Oladejo.
