UI VC commissions Obafemi Awolowo Hall projects
The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, today, Monday, 13 July 2020 was at Obafemi Awolowo Hall where he officially commissioned 3 different projects spearheaded by the Hall management. The projects commissioned were Obafemi Awolowo Hall Orchard, Ornamental Fish Pond and Amazon Garden.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the leadership of the Hall for the effort to resolve the numerous challenges faced by the hall and the ability to provide security for students and property. Looking at the commitment of the hall management to further equip the students and increase their chances of elevation, he noted that it is a good legacy to leave a place “very much better than we found it by being resourceful”.
Earlier in her speech, the Hall Mistress, Prof Helen Labeodan expressed her delight at seeing the projects coming to limelight despite the various challenges posed by the lockdown. In her words, “it was a dream come through”.
In her welcome address, the Hall Warden, Dr. Adedoyin Aguoru informed that the projects will serve to benefit not only the occupants of the hall but also for the students of the University of Ibadan.
The Majority Leader, Obafemi Awolowo Hall, Miss Iyanu Komolafe gave the vote of thanks.
Present at the occasion were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof Kayode Adebowale; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof Adebola Ekanola; Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Faluyi ably represented by the Deputy Registrar, Distance Learning Centre, Mrs. Francisca Ayodele; Bursar, Dr. Micheal Alatise; University Librarian, Dr. Helen Komolafe-Opadeji; Director,
works and Maintenance, Engr Olufemi Adetolu; Deputy Registrar (Vice-Chancellor’s Office), Mr. Oluwole Dada; and the Director, Directorate of Public Communication, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo.
