GLOBACOM SUPPORTS UI STUDENTS
Glo Mobile Limited in conjunction with Huawei Technologies Co. Nigeria Limited has selected the University of Ibadan as a beneficiary of five (5) units of 4G Routers and five (5) 4G Handsets.
The organisations awarded five (5) 4G Handsets loaded with six (6) months airtime to the five students selected across the various Faculties.
The event took place on Wednesday, 24 July 2019 in the Senate Chamber of the University.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof Kayode Adebowale appreciated Globacom and Huawei for their noble effort to contribute to scholarship and commended the students for their excellent performance.
The VC enjoined all students to make use of facilities provided by the institution to attain excellence.
Globacom Regional Manager (West), Mr Abidemi Emmanuel described Globacom as an excellent organisation that has a superior network designed for the use of everyone and to encourage students whose studies are related to ICT.
He described its services as second to none, stressing that data is a necessity to life.
“Data is oxygen and the essence of life”, according to Mr Emmanuel.
The in-coming Dean of Students, Prof Keye Abiona thanked the organisations and requested support for the indigent students in the University.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Oluwatosin Ogunrinde appreciated Globacom and Huawei for their generosity towards the sustenance of excellence in the premier University.
The beneficiaries are Henry Oluwatosin Ogunrinde (Department of Computer Science); Sunday Obasanjo Oladokun (Department of Human Nutrition); Oreoluwa Blessing Adekunle (Department of Library, Archival and Information Science); Timothy Goodness Okusanya (Department of Communication and Language Arts) and Esther Oluwafolakemi Ogunkale (Department of Sociology).
