THE AWBA DAM UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN

The Awba Dam was constructed and completed by the British Government in April, 1964. Its was constructed to serve the following purposes:

To store water for domestic consumption
To reserve water for laboratory use.
To preserve fishing culture with UI
To facilitate hydro-biology and fishery reserve project
To develop the Dam for recreational and Ecotourism site

It is Significant to note that this Dam was named after the river OBA which the European obliquely named Awba.
