Present appointment: Director of Sports University of Ibadan.
Academic/Professional Qualification history.
Dr. Odewumi started the journey of obtaining his Academic/Professional qualification from the National Institute for sports, Lagos where be obtained a coaching certificate in Swimming 1976 and moved to the University of Ibadan for a Certificate course in physical and Health Education in 1980. In 1981 he travelled out of the country to the United State for a special coaching certificate course in swimming at the University of South Carolina, Columbia USA. In 1984 he bagged a Diploma in Physical and Health Education at the University of Ibadan. Thereafter in 1996, 1999 and 2005 he bagged his B.Ed, M.Ed and Ph.D in Sports Administration at the University of Ibadan.


Working Experience:
He started as an assistant swimming coach with the Ondo State Sports Council in 1976 and later left for University of Ibadan, Sports Council as swimming coach grade 1 in 1986 and he rose through the rank to become the Director of Sports.
Honours and Distinctions:
He has won various medals, trophies, certificates and honours for the University, State and the Nation as an athlete, Coach and administrator. He is currently the Vice President of Oyo state Tertiary Institution Games Association .Also he is a member of the Technical sub-committee of the Nigeria Swimming Federation.


SPORTING CLUBS IN THE UNIVERSITY
There are sixteen sporting clubs duly registered in the University and this comprises of fifteen (15) approved sporting events by Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) and Literary and debate society. The Literary and DEBATE society is included in our sporting club because of their involvement in the Bilateral Games.

As a student of the University you are eligible to join any of the sporting clubs and have the chance to represent the University Teams in all championship such as Nigerian University Association Games (NUGA); West Africa University Games (WAUG), Federation of Africa Student University (FASU) and Federation International of Students University (FISU), Bilateral Games and other extra-mural sporting activities
