Farming Systems (50% Teaching, 50% Research)

The successful candidate must have a strong background in tropical farming systems with extensive farming systems research experience. The candidate must be able to teach relevant undergraduate and postgraduate courses in weed science,tropical crop husbandry, statistics for agronomic experimentation and supervise associated research projects/programmes as well as have demonstrable knowledge of the interplay of these areas with soil fertility, plant nutrition and crop ecology. The appointee willhave supervision/supervisory responsibilities for undergraduate and postgraduate students and isexpected to engage in collaborative research with other staff within the Department of Agronomy as well as other researchers in the university and other research institutions in the sub-region. In addition, the candidate must be able to formulate sound and new research ideas to enhance our current understanding of tropical farming systems. Participation in outreach programmes is a key responsibility of the holder of this position.
