NUC Assessment and Monitoring Team on ICT visits UI

A team of Monitoring Officers of ICT Infrastructure, Services and Human Resources in the Nigerian University System (NUS), from the National Universities Commission (NUC) has arrived the University of Ibadan for an assessment of its ICT facilities 

The three-man NUC team which comprised Mrs Jumai Alabi , Mr Oriabure Iyayi and Mr Asabi Samuel was led to the office of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, on a courtesy visit by the Director of ITeMs, University of Ibadan, Mrs Abiodun A. Alao. 

The team was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS in his office. 

Professor Adebowale acknowledged the regulatory role of the NUC over the years, saying it had helped Nigerian universities in the discharge of their duties towards national development. 

He assured the assessors of the maximum cooperation of the University of Ibadan in achieving the purposes of the visit. 

The Vice-Chancellor expressed the belief that if the NUC could ascertain the facilities on ground, resources available, and the calibre of professionals involved, it will not be difficult for the Government to identify the necessary areas of intervention needed for ICT development and virtual learning delivery in Nigerian universities especially the Federal Government institutions of higher learning.

He said that the University of Ibadan became fully integrated in virtual teaching, especially during the COVID -19 pandemic, and will continue to improve on its ICT compliance in all spheres of its operations.

The leader of the visiting team, NUC Deputy Director on Establishment Matters, Mrs.Jumai Alabi said that the visit was for the assessment of the University of Ibadan ICT, infrastructures, service delivery, human resources available and relevant skills on ground based on an assessment form submitted to the NUC as at December, 2023. 

She explained that the evaluation, which includes the sighting of all ICT facilities and resources as documented in the form, will involve both on-site and general evaluation.

Mrs Alabi assured that the exercise would provide needed information for the government and the NUC for the benefit of the end users.
