QUEEN IDIA HALL MANAGEMENT DECORATES THE FIRST LADY OF OYO STATE, HER EXCELLENCY ENGR. (MRS) TANMUNOMININI MAKINDE AS HER MATRON

For the first time in the history of the female halls in the University of Ibadan, Queen Idia set the pace by recognizing the First Lady as her Matron as she was decorated for this purpose with a customized giant plaque presented to her as a token from Queen Idia Hall by the Hall Warden Dr. Patricia Taiwo on Friday, 22 November 2019 in her office.

The Hall Mistress after introducing the team to her Excellency stated the purpose of the visit. This, according to her was to first congratulate Her Excellency on the successful ascension of her husband as Governor of the State, typifying her success as well. As a hall of residence for females and judging from the historical account of Queen Idia, like a warrior queen, we identified with her success at getting to the exalted seat of the First Lady, Oyo State, she stated.

The Hall Mistress further expressed the willingness and the readiness of Queen Idia hall to actively participate in the execution of Her Excellency's pet projects.
she further highlighted the skilfulness and entrepreneurial attributes the students in the hall are known for, citing some of the community services they offer, especially during the annually celebrated Hall Week, their capacity to be engaged in data acquisition projects that relate to social development, availability of land space for Her Excellency to institute self-development projects, etc.

In her response, Her Excellency appreciated the kind gestures of the Hall management for taking time out to both honor and congratulate her. She inquired about the hall week and joked about being the next ‘Miss Fantabulous’ for Queen Idia.

The Hall Management while appreciating the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration Prof. Kayode Adebowale and Dean of student Prof. Adekeye Abiona for their support, thanked all that contributed to the success of the visit.

Present at the occasion were the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Oyo State, Associate Professor Hamdallat Olaniyan; the Hall Mistress, Prof Ajibola Falaye; The Hall Warden, Dr. Patricia Taiwo; Assistant Hall Wardens, Dr. Olumayowa Igado and Olayinka Kotila, Mrs. Tolulope Adebimpe, Hall Supervisors, Mr. O.P Akpadija and Mrs. Babatope; Hall Chairperson, Miss Seunara Adeniji.
