AFRICA REGIONAL CENTRE FOR INFORMATION SCIENCE’S SILVER JUBILEE ANNIVERSARY

A quarter of a century has elapsed since the founding of ARCIS!

ARCIS, domiciled at the University of Ibadan was established as a pioneering effort in English-speaking West Africa to train and retrain high-level human resource in Information Science. ARCIS has a mandate to provide research and consultancy services, and to offer higher degree and continuing education training in the Information Sciences. Its multidisciplinary approach to the study and application of the interconnections among the various information technology-focused disciplines, professions and occupations provides the required synergy among various specialisations, disciplines and fields.

Our scorecard includes the over one thousand five hundred high-level information professionals trained in our Master and doctoral programmes in Information Science spread across the African continent and other parts of the world. In addition, over three thousand five hundred Nigerians and other foreign nationals have benefitted from our short-term local, national and international workshops and conferences.

To celebrate our achievements in the last 25 years and to re-strategise for the next 25 years, the management and entire staff of ARCIS have lined-up the following programmes slated for 22-28 November 2015:
