From Wednesday, August 15th 2012 to Friday, August 17th 2012, The University of Ibadan Information and Communication Technology (ICT) University of Ibadan and Google will be holding an Awareness and Activation of UI Apps for UI faculty and students at the University. The event will provide an opportunity for the UI campus community to learn more about Google Apps which have been customized for UI (UI Apps).

There will be giveaways for attendees as well as prizes for winners of a Google Trivia contest, so get your thinking caps on. There will be training sessions on August 15th and 17th for a selected group of faculty and students to provide more in depth training on Google Apps for Education.

The Awareness and Activation is part of a series of Africa wide university outreach efforts by the Google Apps Supporting Programs (GASP) team. GASP is a Google Initiative aimed at catalyzing Internet usage and Google adoption in African universities through the provision of Google Apps, Technical Consulting, Apps deployment support and training.

UI together with the Google wants to empower the Academic community with knowledge, infrastructure and technological tools to support students research and capacity building through a variety of programs.

As part of the programme students are to activate their personalized UI email address powered by Google on http://studentsmail.ui.edu.ng .
