OLALEKAN JOSEPH AKINTANDE WINS 2021/2022 MICROSOFT PHD RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP AWARD.

Olalekan Joseph Akintande, a Ph.D. student in the Computational Unit of the Department of Statistics, University of Ibadan being supervised by Prof. O.E. Olubusoye has won the 2021/2022 Microsoft PhD Research Fellowship Award based on his research that focuses on Algorithmic Fairness, Machine Intelligence and Responsible AI, with the working title; Algorithmic Debiasing Strategy - A rethink of Machine Intelligence [P-I-P] Design and Fairness Quantification Metric.

As a Microsoft PhD Fellowship recipient, his award includes: grant for academic year 2022–23 to help complete research as part of his doctoral thesis work, an offer for a 12-week paid internship at Microsoft Africa Research Institute (MARI) for eligible recipients and Opportunities to build relationships with research teams at Microsoft and receive mentorship

He will be joining the Microsoft Africa Research Institute (MARI), Nairobi, Kenya in March 2022.
