MILLENNIUM FELLOWS

MILLENNIUM FELLOWS

Twenty-five (25) University of Ibadan Student Cohort have been selected as global pilot Millennium Fellows out of the 530 Millennium Fellows selected on 30 campuses worldwide. Students from 285 campuses across 57 nations applied to the prestigious fellowship, which is a semester-long leadership development programme that challenges students to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Millennium Campus Network (MCN) launched the Millennium Fellowship in 2013 to convene, challenge, and celebrate student leadership for social impact.  More than 5,500 young leaders from 300 universities have already participated in MCN programs to date.  MCN and United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) have partnered to take the Millennium Fellowship to the next level in 2018 by inviting Student leaders worldwide to join an extraordinary community of young leaders advancing the Sustainable Development Goals in their respective communities.

According to Sam Vaghar, MCN executive director and co-founder, “There were a lot of worthy applicants, but we looked for 30 campus cohorts that reflect our commitment to empathetic, humble, inclusive leadership and where we thought the program could thrive based on strong applications and demonstrated leadership”. Notably, 75% of MCN alumni go on to work in social impact careers in the public and private sectors. For more information on the fellowship visit: https://www.millenniumfellows.org/fellowship/
