Four UI students attended VarsityMentor's

Four UI students attended VarsityMentor's; Africa Tech Career Summit, the largest hybrid career exposure summit for undergraduate students in Africa, at Google AI Lab, Accra, Ghana. The week-long summit, themed Crafting a Tech Career: Strategies for Empowering Change, started on the 8th through to the 12th of January, 2024.

Introduction: Four UI students: Ojo Ephraim Sijibomi (Electrical and Electronic Engineering-400 Level), Ojo Ifedolapo Abraham (Civil Engineering-400 Level), Olaleye Aanuoluwapo Kayode (Woods Product Engineering-300 Level) and Okunlola Faozee Bayo (Mechanical Engineering-300 Level) and a recent UI graduate, Mustapha Oluwakayode Emmanuel (Economics), embarked on an extraordinary journey to Ghana, courtesy of VarsityMentor, in collaboration with Google AI and Google for Education. This marked their first international venture, a thrilling ascent to 29,000 feet above Nigeria. The backdrop? The African Tech Career Summit at Google AI Lab, Accra, from the 8th to the 12th of January, 2024. A week that would redefine their perspective and ignite the spark for a future interwoven with technology. Other schools in attendance include; the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu, Lead City University, Ibadan and Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD UBIDS), Ghana. The event had in attendance (virtually and physically) over 17 professionals spanning different areas of expertise and countries and bringing in a wide horizon of views and experiences.
