UI CONDOLES GOVERNOR SEYI MAKINDE

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, has paid a condolence visit to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr ‘Seyi Makinde, in his residence on Saturday, 17 October, 2020, to commiserate with him over the death of his mother, Mama Abigail Amope Omojolagbe Makinde (Nee Omoregie) who died in the early hours of Thursday, 15 October, 2020 in her residence.

Presenting the condolence message, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayinka expressed sadness over the demise, but grateful to God, stressing that the death must have been sudden but peaceful in that she died at the age of 81, in a country where life expectancy is just about 50 years.

The VC commended the Governor for achieving the lofty height while she was alive, stating that mama lived a fulfilled life. He noted that the scheduled visit was to appreciate the Governor who has been a very good friend to the University community long before he became the governor of Oyo state.

He prayed that the good Lord will give the family the fortitude to bear the loss and continue to help the children to blossom.

Responding, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr ‘Seyi Makinde appreciated the university community for finding time to commiserate with the family during their time of grief. He noted that even though death comes with pains to the bereaved families, he has been having a swinging mood, sadness and joy, because people around him continue to celebrate Mama, having lived a fulfilled life. He looked forward to keeping a good relationship with UI.
