INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINING EDUCATIONAL IDEALS BEYOND THE 21ST CENYURY

The Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan (Nigeria Premier University) is launching its 50 years of consistent and meaningful contribution to human development both in Nigeria, Africa and the World at large. As part of the activities approved by the Faculty of Education Scientific Committee, the Faculty is simultaneously organizing and hosting an International Conference which will take place on 24-26 April 2013 in the Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan, Nigeria on the Theme: Sustaining Educational Ideals Beyond 21ST Century. Its human developmental programmes spanning several decades have assume a colossal dimension that has impacted confidence in human capital rejuvenation renowned for their resourcefulness globally. Through its continued strides in education and the human developmental capacity programmes, in this epoch-making history, the Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan would simultaneously welcome and receive scholarly articles as chapters’ contribution during the Conference from all disciplines that would be subjected to a peer review mechanism. Accepted articles and book chapters would be converted into a TEXTBOOK and SPECIAL EDITION OF IBADAN JOURNAL OF EDUCATION STUDIES for the occasion.

THEMATIC AREA

Themes and sub-themes have been carefully selected to reflect every segment of academics show-casing the core business of education in its general form. Though not exhaustive, other sub-themes that should not be unrelated to the MAIN THEME would also be enthusiastically received. While welcoming additional inputs from contributors, the sub-themes which however serve as useful guide/direction within which contributors could phrase their chosen titles/topics that convey adequate meanings to the content of any submission.

MAIN INFORMATION

All received chapter submission would be peer-reviewed. The products of all peer-reviewed, accepted and publishable articles and chapter submissions would be published in the Textbook with the title: SUSTAINING EDUCATIONAL IDEALS BEYOND THE 21ST CENYURY [Faculty of education, University of Ibadan, Nigeria at 50] in an ISBN and the Special Edition of Ibadan Journal of Educational Studies from a reputable publisher. All contributors’ formatting system and Referencing pattern must conform to the recommended styles. For instance, contributors would be expected to adhere to the APA Referencing style which could be down-loaded.

All articles and chapter submissions should have abstracts/introduction that summarizes succinctly the entire submitted manuscript. The submitted chapters should employ the ‘Times New Roman’ (font 12) while accepted contribution after peer-review correction would be submitted both as: (a) hard Copy and (b) CD-Re-writable materials to any of the Editorial members. However, please note that for distant contributors, their submissions would be received electronically and by courier post (for hard copies). Abstract

As a contribution to a scholarly publication, your article and chapter must include an abstract, consisting of approximately 300 words, which will provide your readers with an overview of the content of your chapter. It is important that your abstract clearly states the purpose of your chapter and summarizes the content.

INTRODUCTION

Describe the general perspective of the topic and or chapter. Toward the end, specifically state the objectives of the chapter or topic.

Background (Subhead style 1- Times New Roman, Size 12, Bold)

Provide broad definitions and discussions of the topic and incorporate views of others (literature review) into the discussion to support, refute or demonstrate your position on the topic.[i]

Main FOCUS OF the ARTICLE AND CHAPTER

Issues, Controversies, Problems (Subhead Style 2- Arial, size 12, bold)

All contributors are advised to present their research perspective (s) on the issues, controversies, problems, etc., as they relate to theme and arguments supporting their position. Compare and contrast with what has been, or is currently being done as it relates to the article or chapter's specific topic and the main theme of the book/special Edition of Ibadan Journal of Educational Studies.

Solutions and Recommendations

Contributors are encouraged to discuss solutions and recommendations in dealing with the issues, controversies, or problems presented in the preceding section.

Figure/Table 1. Please include captions within the text of your chapter to indicate where images should be placed. All images must be included as separate .titles, NOT included within the text of your chapter.

Conclusion

This is important to direct readers to the salient points in a chapter. Contributors should provide a well articulated conclusion that is related to the main content of the article or chapter.

The maximum words for individual and group submissions as well as single and multiple chapter and article submissions should not exceed or be more than 8000.

The deadline for the receipt of all articles/chapters from interested contributors is: 30th February 2013

VENUE:

Being the premier University in Nigeria, and formally an affiliate of the University College, London, the University of Ibadan, Nigeria is a prominent and very dynamic institution of higher learning in Africa. As a premier University in Nigeria, University of Ibadan tilts more to graduate programmes with admission ratio of 60:40.

Ibadan, where the institution is situated is the Capital City of Oyo State in Nigeria. Ibadan is the Nigeria’s second largest city; and is located in the South-western part. The city is nested in a rippling plain landscape by ridges of eight rugged hills. The City also offers lots of tourist opportunities

The University of Ibadan has an area of 1,032 hectares which had been offered on lease for 999 years by the people and the chiefs of Ibadan. The university started functioning at the present location in the year 1948, on 17th November. As the premier university in Nigeria the institution was privileged in training very prominent people in the economy who have contributed immensely to the national development of the Country.
