ANIMAL BIRTHS

HOME II TRAININGS II SECTIONS II CURATORS II MORE

Breeding is on the rise in the Zoo because of upgraded enclosures and due to the enrichment of enclosures to simulate the natural environment of these animals. This has been made possible by the huge support of the University Management and individual donors. Recently, one (1) Green monkey, nine (9) Land tortoises and twenty-two (22) domestic pigs were given birth to and four (4) Pea fowls were hatched.

Other births include one (1) male horse, eight (8) crocodiles, four (4) Mallard ducklings, one (1) Crown Crane fledgling, three (3) Patas monkeys, four (4) Lion cubs and two (2) Antelopes (Gazelle Dorcas). The garden has been stocked with more and new species of animals.
