UI HOSTS ACU ADMINISTRATIVE PRACTICE WORKSHOP

UI HOSTS ACU ADMINISTRATIVE PRACTICE WORKSHOP

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), UK in conjunction with the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA), University of Ibadan and the West African Research and Innovation Management Association (WARIMA) is organizing a certificate workshop for mid-level University Administrators which will comprise about 30 administrators from universities from different parts of Africa.

In a statement by the University’s Director of Public Communication, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo, the face to face workshop will run from Monday 14 – Friday, 18 August, 2017 at the Centre for Sustainable Development (CESDEV), University of Ibadan, Nigeria at 9.00am prompt.

For ACU, it is believed that many university administrative staff, particularly at mid-career level, are undervalued and have the potential to contribute much more effectively to their institutions. One way of addressing this is by providing professional development and recognition, through a course which allows to exchange experience, consider real life examples and encourage the development of innovative solutions.

ACU is seeking to meet this need through a provision of a new course, designed in conjunction with, and accredited by, the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) while SEDA provides recognition and accreditation for professional development activity in higher education, both in the UK and internationally.

Participants are expected to receive a SEDA award in developing Professional Practice upon successful completion of the course.

The course commenced in June 2017 with pre-workshop assignments and discussions via email and an online platform with post workshop assignments which then continued over three-four months with the working on enhancement projects. The entire course runs over 6 months.
