APPOINTMENT OF ACTING REGISTRAR:


MR. VICTOR ADEBOMI ADEWALE ADEGOROYE

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac F. Adewole, on behalf of the Governing Council, has appointed Mr. Victor Adebomi Adewale ADEGOROYE as the Acting Registrar of the University of Ibadan with effect from 01 January, 2012, and until further notice. He succeeds Omotayo Omotunde IKOTUN (Mrs.) whose term as the 10th substantive Registrar expired on 31 December, 2011.

Born to the late Rev’d. Joseph Adebayo and Mrs. Florence Adegoroye, on 12 October, 1952. Mr. Adegoroye hails from Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

He attended the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife where he obtained a B.Sc. Degree in Education/Mathematics in June 1976. He earned an M.Ed. in Industrial Relations fro the University of Ibadan in June 1986.

Mr. Adegoroye participated in the National Youth Service Corps from august 1976 to July 1977, as a Lecturer with the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin. He was employed as a Tutor by the Oyo State Central Schools Board, Ibadan, from August 1977 to December 1979.

He joined the University of Ibadan as a Higher Executive Officer in the Academic Staff Unit, Establishments Division in January 1980. He as appointed Assistant Registrar on 01 October 1992 and rose through the ranks to be appointed a Deputy Registrar on 18 December 2003. He served as Senior/Principal Executive Officer (Committee/Welfare/Recruitment) in the Academic Staff Section (Establishments Division) from October 1983 – February 1992. He also served in the Junior Staff Section (Establishments Division) ; in the Public Relation Units; as Faculty Officer, Faculty of Law, and as Deputy Registrar (General Administration) and Deputy Registrar (Academic). Up till the time of his appointment as the Acting Registrar, Mr. Adegoroye was the Deputy Registrar and Secretary, Postgraduate School.

He served diligently as Secretary to the Ad-Hoc Committee on the Centre for External Studies (now Distance Learning Centre) under the Chairmanship of Professor S.T. Bajah in July 1985; co-opted member, Strategic Planning Committee of the University (1998); member, Committee on Devolution of Responsibilities of Principal Officers of the University, (21 April 1998) and 15 August 1999); Secretary, Committee of Registrars of Nigerian University (CORNU) – 2000 to 2004; Supervisor, Universities Matriculation Examination for Ibadan- 1999- 2004; Coordinator, Universities Matriculation Examination for Ibadan, 2005 – 2007 and Secretary, Committee on Non Payment of MSS allowances to Veterinary Doctors (20 March to 01 August 2003).

For his dedication to duty, attention to details and for being an effective and efficient team player, Mr. Adegoroye received written commendations from two successive Vice-Chancellors – Professors A.B.O.O. Oyediran and O. Adewoye - for the excellent service he rendered in the Junior Staff Section of the Establishments Division. Similarly, he received a written commendation from the Dean of the Postgraduate School for his wonderful and immense contribution to the smooth running of the Postgraduate School from 2007 till December, 2011.

The Acting Registrar is an Associate Member, Institute of Personal Management of Nigeria and Member, Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA), Vice-Chairman, The Polytechnic, Ibadan/University of Ibadan Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Management (2004 till 2009); and ex-officio member, University of Ibadan Branch of ANUPA (2004 till 2007). He has attended many conferences and seminars at which he presented papers.

He was elected ex-officio member, Ife Varsity Press Club in 1975. A patron of the Church Choir, C.A.C. Oke-Ife, Orita Challenge Zonal Headquarters, Ibadan. Mr. Adegoroye’s hobbies include listening to classical and religious music, playing badminton and reading.

Mr. Victor Adegoroye is happily married and blessed with children.

Mr. Adegoroye is bringing to the position of Acting Registrar, 32 years of varied experience in human management at the University of Ibadan, including the last eight years as a Deputy Registrar. His vision is to have an ICT-propelled, highly motivated, well-trained and re-trained, customer-friendly, efficient and effective Registry that will satisfy the expectations of stakeholders through its service delivery.
