DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS
Professor Anthony Ikpi joined the staff of the Department of Agricultural Economics in 1976 and rose to the rank of professor in October 1995. Prof. Ikpi obtained his B.Sc. from the University of Ibadan in 1970 and his Ph.D from Purdue University USA in 1976. He has taught courses in macro economics, agri-business management, financial management, research methodology, agricultural marketing and international trade.
Prof. Ikpi’s research interests include agro-business development, household economics, food security, agricultural marketing and gender analysis. Prof. Ikpi has disseminated his research output in local and international journals as well as in technical reports, monographs and books. He has over 70 publications to his credit. Prof. Ikpi has supervised 10 Ph.Ds and over 40 M.Sc. students.
Professor Ikpi has a rich experience in public and international service. He has served as Chairman Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and member, Steering Committee, African Rural Social Sciences Networks (ARSSN), and executive member, International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE). He is a foundation member of the West Africaqn Association of Agricultural Economists (WAAAE), secretary (1978 – 1983) and President (1983 – 1988), member of the American Agricultural Economics Association, (AAEA), Canadian Agricultural Economics Society (CAES), Nigerian Economic Society, Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists (NAAE), World Poultry Science Association (WPSA) and Farm Management Association of Nigeria (FAMAN).
Professor Ikpi is married with children.
